Bharani is governed by Yama, who in the tradition is less a god of death than a god of limit: the one who holds the boundary and does not move it. Its symbol is the womb. Between those two the division is about what has to be carried and what has to be endured to bring anything into existence, which is not a comfortable combination and is not meant to be.
Venus rules it, so the endurance is rarely joyless. There is appetite here, and considerable capacity for pleasure alongside considerable capacity for restraint, which is why Bharani is read as intense rather than merely difficult. The practical reading concerns extremes. People with strength here tend to be poor at moderate versions of anything, and the discipline that helps is almost always about pacing rather than about wanting less.
